Psychiatric Symptoms

Cannabidiol has an antipsychotic effect with a non-neuroleptic interaction, which facilitates treatment in psychiatric symptoms commonly treated with medication with sedative properties, allowing a better quality of life.

Medical Cannabis’ effects against psychiatric symptoms:

  • Antipsychotic.
  • Neuroprotector.
  • Anti-inflammatory.
  • Antioxidant.
  • Non-neuroleptic.

There are different causes that can lead to a psychiatric disorder which lead to psychiatric symptoms, such as panic attacks, dementia, psychosis, aggressive behavior, anxiety, hallucinations, to name a few.

Cannabidiol CBD significantly reduces psychopathological disorders, thanks to its antipsychotic effects, and unlike common medicine, with fewer adverse effects. Because of this, it is used by many patients with schizophrenia to alleviate the side effects of regular therapy with neuroleptics, as well as parkinsonian symptoms.

Recent studies on therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases have turned their attention to the cannabinoid’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidants neuroprotective properties (for example, slowing the ongoing neurodegeneration). Thus, it is considered not only a palliative treatment of symptoms but also a therapeutic approach, delaying symptoms such as dementia.
